Managing your organization

An organization is the home of your club, school or federation on Chesstide. It groups your tournaments under one public page, and it's what team registrations attach to. This article covers creating an organization, managing its people, and how it connects to your tournaments.

Create an organization

Required fields:

Organization Name — must be unique across Chesstide.
Organization Type — School, Club, Federation or Other.
Privacy — Public (everyone can see your tournaments) or Private (only members can see your tournaments). Public is the default.

You can optionally add a location (City, Country) and contact information (Address, Postal Code, Phone, Email, Website). Everything can be edited later with Edit Organization.

You automatically become an administrator of the organization you create.

Administrators and members

An organization has two separate lists of people:

Administrators are Chesstide user accounts with full control: they can edit the organization, manage its people, and manage its tournaments and team registrations. Add one with Add Administrator and search by the email address of their Chesstide account. You can never remove the last administrator.
Members are players — they don't need a Chesstide account. Add them with Add Member, searching by name or by FIDE/federation ID. Members are what makes a private organization's tournaments visible to its people.

Tip: Add a second administrator early. Anyone helping you run tournaments (a co-organizer, an arbiter managing entries) needs administrator access to the organization — being a member is not enough.

The public organization page

A Public organization gets a public profile page listing its upcoming and past tournaments, plus its location and contact information. Administrator and member lists are never shown publicly.

A Private organization has no public page at all; its tournaments are visible only to members.

Linking your federation club

If your organization's country has a supported national federation (currently Belgium), a Federation Club section appears when creating or editing the organization. Search for your club to link it to its official federation record. The link is shown on your public page.

Organizations and tournaments

When creating a tournament you can attach it to one of your organizations. This is optional but recommended:

The tournament appears on the organization's public page.
For team tournaments, teams can register under an organization, and the organization's administrators can manage those team registrations.
Every administrator of the organization can help manage its tournaments.
