Completing, cancelling and copying

What happens after the last round — closing the tournament properly, fixing something after the fact, cancelling an event, recycling a tournament as a template, and running tournament series.

Completing a tournament

Most tournaments complete automatically when the last round is completed. The Mark as Completed button on the manage page is the manual override — use it when an event is cut short or you want to close it despite an unresolved situation.

A completed tournament stays publicly visible with its final standings and remains in every player's history.

Fixing something afterwards

Reopen Tournament returns a completed tournament to published. Use it when a result was recorded wrong or a round must continue after all. Correct what's needed (reopen the affected round with Revert to In Progress — see Entering results), then mark the tournament completed again.

Important: Recomputing standings after a correction also recomputes tie-breaks. Published prize lists may shift — double-check the Prizes tab before re-announcing winners.

Cancelling

Cancel Tournament withdraws an event that won't take place. Cancelled tournaments disappear from public listings. Cancelling cannot be undone from the manage page, so prefer it over deletion only when you want to keep the data.

Delete Tournament is the nuclear option: it permanently removes the tournament with all rounds, results and registrations, and is limited to the creator. There is no undo.

Copying a tournament

Copy Tournament duplicates the tournament's settings and round schedule into a new draft with an auto-numbered name — no players, pairings or results come along. For a monthly blitz or an annual open, configure once, then copy and adjust the dates each edition.

Tournament series and festivals

Under Groups, you can bundle tournaments:

  • Collection — a simple series page, no combined ranking.
  • Points challenge — one combined ranking; points from each tournament add up, with a configurable placement-points table, dropped results and a minimum number of tournaments.
  • Cumulative challenge — scores accumulate leg after leg; players can register for the whole challenge in one go.
  • Festival — parallel tournaments where each player enters exactly one; the festival roster lets you move a player between tournaments.

Attach tournaments as legs (with an optional multiplier and label), publish the group, and the Combined ranking page updates as legs finish.
