Your account and profile

A Chesstide account is needed to register for tournaments. This article covers signing up, your profile, the ways you sign in, linking your chess identity, and managing the players you register for others.

Creating an account

Three ways to sign up, all from Sign Up:

Email and password — you'll receive a verification email; confirm it before your first sign-in.
Continue with Google
Continue with Lichess

Forgot your password? Forgot password on the sign-in page sends a reset link to your email. If your account has no password because you sign in with Lichess, the email explains how to sign in instead.

Lichess sign-in has no password reset of its own. Once signed in, add a second sign-in method from your profile (see Sign-in methods).

The 🌐 menu in the header switches the interface language (English, français, Nederlands) at any time.

Your profile

The Profile page (account menu) gathers:

Chess Profile — link your account to your player identity (see below).
Sign-in methods — the ways you can sign in (see below).
My Players — people you register for (see below).
Your email address, timezone and phone settings.
API Access, if enabled for your account.
Delete account — permanently removes your account.

The Sign-in methods card on your profile lists every way you can sign in to your account, with the date each one was added and when you last used it. There are two kinds:

Email & password / Google — your email and password, and Google, share one entry.
Lichess

Under Add a sign-in method, add the kind you don't have yet: Add Lichess, Add Google, or Add a password (for your account's email address — we send you a confirmation link). Keep at least two, so a forgotten password or a lost Lichess account never locks you out.

Remove takes a method off your account. Your last method can't be removed — the card marks it Your only sign-in method. Removing the method you are signed in with signs you out, so you'll need another one to get back in.

Every method added or removed is confirmed by email, so a change you didn't make never goes unnoticed.

Tip: Your Chesstide email address is your own. Changing your email on Lichess or Google doesn't change it.

Linking your chess profile

Link your chess profile connects your account to your official player record — FIDE ID and national federation ID. Once linked, registering yourself is a single click and your rating is always up to date.

If your player record was already claimed by someone else by mistake, submit a claim — a Chesstide administrator reviews it.

Picked the wrong player? Unlink this profile on the Chess Profile card lets you break the link yourself, and you can link the right record straight away. Nothing is cancelled, but entries a club made for you — and any tournament you manage as staff — leave your account until the right record is linked.

My Players

My Players holds the players you manage or register regularly — your children, or club members you enter into tournaments. Add them by name or FIDE/federation ID; they then appear first in every registration search. Perfect for parents and club secretaries. Remove takes a player off your list, and Remove all clears it in one go. Your own linked chess profile stays.

API access

Developers can integrate with Chesstide through the REST API. API access is enabled per account by an administrator; once active, the API Clients & Keys page on your profile manages clients, permissions and keys (each key is shown only once, at creation). See the API documentation in the Help menu.
